The city of Fremont is the second largest city of Alameda county in the East
Bay. Its population and economics has been growing rapidly since January 23rd
1956 and is about to exceed its neighbor – Milpitas. A Celebrate Fremont
Committee has been established to plan for the anniversary celebration events.
Their planning projects have proceeded smoothly so far and have garnered a lot
of support from many local institutions and companies.
Celebrate Fremont Committee is formed by community volunteers. The Vice Chair
Suzanne Lee Chan revealed that many celebration activities plans are under way
in a grand manner. The first celebration activity will be a Gala scheduled for
January 20, 2006. And the peak of the anniversary celebration will be held in
the Central Park on September 9th and 10th.
She disclosed that obtaining enthusiastic donations has been quite successful
progress. They received $10,000 each from the City of Fremont and the NUMMI.
Also, they recently held a fund raising banquet, which gained a lot of
passionate support. There were six major institutions which donated $50,000
each. They are Santa Clara Development, Fremont Bank, SummerHill Homes, Catellus,
Dale Hardware and Ardenbrook,Inc. In addition, there were donations of $25,000
$10,000 and $5,000 contributed by other institutions.
The Chairlady of the committee, Irene Koehler was thrilled by the enthusiastic
fund raising response and support of the business community. It demonstrates the
generosity, the zeal, the care and the belief in the City of Fremont from our
community. |
