Fremont's
50th Birthday Pops Concert
Presented by Fremont Symphony Orchestra
Fremont's own
Symphony Orchestra presented an all-American
Pops Concert May 13 and 14, in celebration
of Fremont's 50th anniversary, at Ohlone
College's Smith Center for the Fine and
Performing Arts. This concert featured an
original commissioned symphonic piece,
Fanfare for Fremont, in addition
to several favorites by some of America’s
best-known composers. During the concert
David Sloss, the symphony conductor,
provided history and amusing information
about each piece, and Mayor Bob Wasserman
presented a City of Fremont proclamation to
Mark Volkert, the composer of Fanfare
for Fremont, making him an honorary
citizen of Fremont.
The Fremont Symphony will play this stirring
piece of music, evoking the mist over Lake
Elizabeth and the sun rising over Mission
Peak, at the September 9/10 Celebrate
Fremont @ the Park.
